As a Consulting Hypnotist, I’ve worked with clients covering a wide range of non-therapeutic and clinical, physical and emotional issues. However, for problems of a clinical nature (physical or emotional) the client must have a referral from their medical or mental health practitioner. Hypnosis is an excellent adjunct as a complimentary medical tool, but it does not replace, nor do we advocate replacing our traditional medical treatments. Working with your doctor, hypnosis can be used to alleviate the stresses, fears, and discomforts before, during and after surgical procedures, chemo and radiation treatments, painless child birth, burns, and those suffering from long term chronic disorders. Before moving to Other successful uses for hypnosis are Stress Management, Smoking Cessation, Weight Reduction, Releasing Fears and Phobias, such as fear of flying, fear of cats or dogs, fear of taking tests, etc. For example, one school aged young lady, had a fear of taking tests that caused her to become physically sick to the point she was unable to attend school the day of the test. In one visit, using hypnosis she was able to eliminate the stomach discomfort and release the test anxiety. She now takes each test and passes with ease. Some of my clients have come to see me as a last resort, after they’ve tried everything else known to them. But, that’s okay, because I feel confident that this will be their last stop in their search for relief. I became interested in hypnosis after I’d had an outpatient surgical procedure and had listened to a hypnosis tape that a friend, also a Hypnotist, had given me to relieve the pain from the surgical procedure. I received the tape the day before the surgery was scheduled, so I decided to listen to the tape the night before the surgery, but quickly fell asleep before finishing it. After surgery, I’d gone home and when it was time, I took a prescription pain pill as directed by my surgeon. Within moments I became very ill and lost the contents in my stomach. That’s when I thought to myself, “This might be a good time to listen to the hypnosis pain tape again.” After listening to the hypnosis tape again my pain had completely disappeared. I still remember being totally amazed that my surgical pain had totally disappeared. Next came that “AHA” moment, and in that split second, I knew that I wanted to learn how to do this. I wanted to learn how to help others relieve their surgical pain. Within a few months of experiencing a pain free and quicker than normal recuperation, I completed my course study for the Basic Clinical Hypnotherapy Certification, in early 1996, with the International Therapeutic Research Institute, and became certified as a Consulting Hypnotist with the National Guild of Hypnotists ( My Discovery of Alternative Healing Modalities In the early 1990’s, I felt drawn to learn how to restore the mind, body, and spirit with a more holistic, natural approach in healing. In 1994, I took my first training class and became a Certified Spiritual Healer, at the Institute of Spiritual Development (ISD) in While living in
